FOR STUDENTS

READY Teaching Academy

Rochester’s next great teachers are sitting in today’s high school classrooms. READY’s Teaching Academy provides students in grades 9-12 with hands-on experiences, college opportunities, and career pathways to help you become an educator and community leader.

Rochester Students! This is for YOU.

Research is clear: students do better when they see themselves in the people teaching them.

In Rochester, more than 90% of students are people of color while about 80% of teachers are white, meaning most kids will go through school never having a teacher who shares their background or understands their experience. The READY Teaching Academy is working to change that.

What Will I Learn from the Program?

  • Get paid to explore careers in teaching and education.
  • See your culture, history, and identity reflected in the classroom.
  • Get mentored by those who are already making change in education
  • Earn college credits while building skills and community.
