FOR ADULTS

READY Power Lab

The READY POWER Lab is a six-month advocacy leadership program designed for parents, educators, and community members who are ready to go beyond understanding the system—and start organizing to change it.

The Power of Organized Parent Advocacy

Strong schools require more than informed families. They require families with the confidence, skills, and power to shape the systems impacting their children.

Across Rochester, many parents face barriers related to transportation, language access, school quality, and educational equity, yet often lack the support needed to effectively advocate for change. READY believes families should not only understand education systems but also be equipped to influence and improve them.

Building on the foundation of the Parent ACTION Academy, the POWER Lab equips participants with the tools, strategies, and support needed to lead, advocate, and drive real change for Rochester’s children.

Through leadership training, community outreach and engagement, organizing practice, campaign development, and coaching, participants identify issues impacting Rochester families and develop strategies to advocate for meaningful solutions. Participants learn how to engage decision-makers, build networks of supporters, and use media and social media to elevate community voices. They also participate in outreach activities, strategy sessions, and collaborative work to apply their learning in real time.

What can I learn from the Power Lab?

By the end of the program, participants will have launched advocacy campaigns on issues affecting their communities, strengthened their confidence as public advocates, and built the skills necessary to mobilize families around shared goals.

The READY Power Lab will develop a new generation of informed, organized, and action-oriented parent leaders equipped to influence education systems and advance community-driven change.
