Research shows that when adults are actively involved in education, students do better and schools work better…and we believe that deeply.
That’s why if your kid goes to a Rochester public school, the Parent ACTION Academy wants YOU.
It’s a short-term fellowship where you’ll get the inside scoop on how our education system actually works: from what’s happening in your child’s school all the way up to the decisions being made at the city, state, and school board level. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to make your voice heard and push for the changes our kids deserve.

As a parent/caregiver, what can I expect to learn from the program?
You get to learn from leaders who have been down this road, and seen what change can look like in our educational system:
The READY Parent ACTION Academy focuses on: Advocacy, Community engagement, Training, Inclusivity, Opportunity, and Networking. Our goal is to educate parents and caregivers about local education systems in Rochester and how to best navigate them. We aim to grow community understanding and influence to drive systemic change, leading to improved outcomes for all of Rochester’s children, and in turn, our city.
ACTION participants delve into the rich history of public schools in Rochester, gain insights into student achievement trends, understand community-driven solutions to public education challenges, and build advocacy skills. ACTION participants graduate with the confidence and knowledge to step into their role as advocates and change agents.
The ultimate goal of the Parent ACTION Academy is to build and amplify community desire to drive systemic change in Rochester’s K-12 schools. With each cohort, a growing collective of change agents will be informed and activated to hold leaders accountable for solutions they want in Rochester’s education system.
